I have worked as a saddle fitter for 15 years. During this time I have made and designed saddles, side saddles, bridles and other tack. I have been employed by Saddles Direct for 5 years and qualified with the SMS in 2021.
I regularly take part in courses and research studies that contribute to my CPD points. I’ve helped train other fitters getting on the path in this sphere and in 5 years time will be eligible to take my Master Qualified Saddle Fitters title with the Society of Master Saddlers.
My job is to check the saddle fit for both horse and rider and make sure it is suitable for the job needed. If the saddle needs adjusting I am qualified in flocking and can do this and repairs on site. If the saddle no longer fits your horse, or you have a change of discipline, your horse might be returning to work following injury or even starting their ridden career, we go through options so you are both comfy whatever you choose to do. I cover all the North West and also see customers at our base at Myerscough International Arena.
I often work with vet and physio referrals. As a fitter, your horses comfort is paramount, and that’s an ongoing process. Biannual checks are key to reacting to changes in your horses shape and ensuring their welfare needs are met. Brews appreciated 😉
