About the event

Duration – 1 Day ​ Early Bird Price - £175 ​ Pre-Requisites - None. Minimum age 14

Learn how to confidently and accurately assess saddle fit with our 1 day pathway to saddle fitting course. ​ Ideal for horse owners, equine body workers, trainers and veterinarians The course will involve both theoretical and practical training and will cover the basics of saddle fit, saddle safety how to identify an ill-fitting saddle.

Successful candidates may progress towards a career in saddle fitting ​ ​ COURSE AIM

The aim of the course is to provide you with a thorough understanding of the importance of saddle fit and how you as a horse owner or equine professional can identify saddle fit issues and progress towards a career in saddle fitting.

CONTENT ​ The day will contain a mixture of both theoretical and practical training where you will be working in groups to assess a variety of different horses and saddles. Practical clothing and footwear is recommended along with any other PPE you feel would be necessary. We will be working in an outdoor venue so please ensure you have appropriate clothing for the weather.

REFRESHMENTS ​ Tea, coffee and water will be provided and there will be several comfort breaks throughout the day. Lunch is not provided so please bring something along with you as there are no catering facilities on site.

9.00 - Theory - Purpose of the saddle, parts of the saddle, basic anatomy, principals of saddle fit 10.00 – Practical – Assessing the saddle (off the horse) 10.30 – Break 10.45 - Practical – Chalking the horse, saddle support area 12.00 – Break for Lunch 13.00 – Practical - Assessing Saddle Fit (on the horse) 15.00 – Practical – Assessing the saddle in motion 16.00 – Questions and debrief
