Functional Anatomy & Observation Skills 1 Day CPD Course

Join us for a one day hands-on and educational exploration of the horses functional anatomy and learn advanced observation abilities to level up your consultation skills.

This CPD course designed for saddle fitters and equine sports massage therapists but is also open to equine professionals with an existing knowledge of equine anatomy.

COURSE AIM

Learn how to conduct a highly detailed assessment of the horse while understanding how and why the anatomy of the equine should function for optimal performance. By learning how to thoroughly review equine conformation, gait and posture you will be able to assess their potential suitability for the intended job while understanding structural limitations and areas for improvement.

In addition you will learn how to accurately and thoroughly palpate (feel) the horse to assess current function and identify potential issues while learning how and why these issues present and possible implications.

COURSE CONTENT

Working our way from nose to tail and withers to hooves we will explore the size, structure and function of the horses anatomy and how each component relates to its counterpart.

Throughout the day we will cover:

- Subclinical Evaluation

- Range of Motion

- Palpation Skills

- Anatomical Function

- Advanced Static Evaluation

- Advanced Dynamic Evaluations

EVENT INFORMATION

This course is aimed at equine professionals and therefore candidates should have a working knowledge of equine anatomy, biomechanics and evaluations skills.

This is a practical, hands-on event therefore appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn and excellent horse handling skills are essential.

Students will be working in an outdoor environment so should dress appropriately for the weather. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided throughout the day as well as regular comfort breaks and a break for lunch. Lunch is not included so please bring something along with you as there are no catering facilities on site.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Places are limited and can only be reserved upon full payment. If you choose to cancel your place within 8 weeks of the event start date no refund will be offered. Cancellations processed more than 8 weeks in advance of the event start date will be eligible for a full refund minus a £15 admin fee.

This is a one-off event and therefore no postponement on transfers are available.

Cancellations must be received in writing by emailing admin@saddle-academy.comat least 8 weeks prior to the event.

CERTIFICATION

Upon completion candidates may request an IASF CPD certificate for 6 hours.
